The Shepherds Gate has a calling to change the spiritual atmosphere on the Westside of Los Angeles.
For those of you that are unaware, the Westside is historically one of the driest areas in the world
for the Gospel. It's commonly defined borders are LAX on the south, north on La Brea to Beverly Hills
and west across Mulholland to Malibu. This region has roughly one million residents within its borders
and many of the wealthiest and most influential people in the world from the entertainment industry. Even
if some do not currently reside here, they either did at one time or will sometime in the future. This is
the region that affects the world through movies, television, music, fashion and a host of cultural
trend-setters.
What is even more remarkable is that in the entire history of Los Angeles, there has been only three
times that a Christian Church reached the level of 1000 attendees. And, in each case the churches crashed
and burned. One went through a moral failure of the pastor, a second through internal division and multiple
church splits, and the third became a cult. Nowhere else in the Greater Los Angeles area, nor perhaps in
the entire United States, can you find this great an area with such a large population where the Church has
so little impact.
We feel it is our calling to change the spiritual atmosphere in this region to promote the penetration
of the Gospel for all those called to work in this geographic area. If we are able to raise the spiritual
water level, all the boats will rise.
To do this, the Lord has brought us back to our home base in Culver City and is beginning to establish
His place of worship in a remarkable way. After our extremely successful conference with Jeff Jansen,
Joshua Mills and JoAnn McFatter, we were graciously given the opportunity to move to The Living Branch
Foursquare Church on the west end of Culver City. A fascinating transition is taking place and an ongoing
summary of our Saturday evenings with the Lord will be forthcoming.
